Our Groups

In Broompark and District we have 5 thriving groups which are detailed below.

1. Craft Club: this group meets on the third Wednesday of the month from 7pm at Aldin Grange Farm. The group is led by experienced crafters and sewers who guide the group through a variety of projects.  It is open to friends as well as members. There is a minimum charge for materials and refreshments.

2. Book club: this group meets monthly in the Stonebridge pub but not on a regular date. The meetings are posted on the Broompark village noticeboard and on the News page of this site. Members take it in turn to choose a book and to prepare discussion questions. All genres have been covered. Friends are also welcome. The local library can usually supply the books requested but some members prefer to download or use their own copies if they have them.

3. Luncheon Club: this group meets every couple of months or so in different local pubs and restaurants around Durham. Members take it in turn to organise an outing. This relatively new group is proving very popular.

4. Strollers: a walking group following easy to moderate routes on a monthly basis. No particular day is specified, just when the organiser can do it. The walk starts with coffee in a local cafe and ends in a pub lunch. There will not be a walk in December 2013.

5. Theatre Group: another relatively new group that is a great success. A number of theatres in the NE have been visited with others in the pipeline. Productions large and small are visited and we are now introducing national Theatre streamings.
